Week 25 - Bed EX3
4 week old carrots needing thinning.
A close up of parsnip seedlings just starting to emerge after 4 weeks, with seed casing still attached to some of the leaves. The sandy texture of the soil can clearly be seen.
As Ireland's first eco-village is being built in Cloughjordan, 11 people meet once a week to learn how to grow food. This year long course is the beginning of one of the educational cornerstones of the eco-village, where small scale intensive gardens are the focus of research, education and demonstration. The project begins with three separate allotment plots being managed using three different gardening methodologies.
This blog is a record of the activities of the ten neophytes and one enthusiast as they work to develop these plots, learn how to grow food, and begin to reduce their carbon footprint.
