Week 24 - Bed PC6

This is what the bed looks like 8 weeks after sowing, having gone through drought conditions for the first month and not enough rain for the rest. We do not yet have access to water for irrigation on this field. Not the pest conditions for any of these crops, especially since we removed a fair amount of the soil organic matter with the sod that was stripped off when the bed was dug.
Some of the plants are doing reasonably well, but are not healthy and as tasty as they could be. We have been harvesting the salad leaves for a few weeks now, to make room for other plants, and there is a huge diversity of colors, shapes and tastes.

Manu of the spinach plants have bolted (started to flower), which is a sure sign that the conditions are not great.
