Three Educational Gardens - Three Methodologies - One Research Project

Week 27 - Bed EX3
The parsnip germination was a bit erratic, either that or the sowing of seeds was not very even, and this little clump of 3-4 seedlings will have to be thinned, leaving quite a bit of space on either side.
The carrots have produced a even line of healthy plants that are ready for more thinning.
As Ireland's first eco-village is being built in Cloughjordan, 11 people meet once a week to learn how to grow food. This year long course is the beginning of one of the educational cornerstones of the eco-village, where small scale intensive gardens are the focus of research, education and demonstration. The project begins with three separate allotment plots being managed using three different gardening methodologies.
This blog is a record of the activities of the ten neophytes and one enthusiast as they work to develop these plots, learn how to grow food, and begin to reduce their carbon footprint.
