Week 33 - Bed PC5
We cleared out a lot of the larger beetroot to eat, the weeds and the other plants that had gone to seed, this makes the bed look more straggly. Into the spaces we transplanted a few brassica plants.
As Ireland's first eco-village is being built in Cloughjordan, 11 people meet once a week to learn how to grow food. This year long course is the beginning of one of the educational cornerstones of the eco-village, where small scale intensive gardens are the focus of research, education and demonstration. The project begins with three separate allotment plots being managed using three different gardening methodologies.
This blog is a record of the activities of the ten neophytes and one enthusiast as they work to develop these plots, learn how to grow food, and begin to reduce their carbon footprint.
